How many of your orders come from ChatGPT? How to find out
Shoppers now click from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude straight to product pages. Here's how to count the orders and sales those visits bring to a Salla, Zid, WooCommerce or Shopify store.
A new place your customers come from
More and more shoppers start with a question to an AI assistant: "Which running shoes are good for flat feet?", "Where can I buy this in Riyadh?" The assistant answers with a few products, often with a link. Some of those clicks become orders in your store.
Most merchants have no idea how many. The visits are mixed in with "referral" or "direct" traffic, and nobody looks.
Why it matters now
- It's a channel you can grow. Stores whose product pages state price, stock, shipping and returns clearly are easier for assistants to recommend.
- It tells you whether to invest. A handful of orders a month and a few hundred are different decisions.
- It shows the trend. The number a month from now matters more than today's.
How Allowfy counts them
Your store already records where each visit came from: the referring page, utm_source (ChatGPT adds utm_source=chatgpt.com to many links), and the platform's own source name. Allowfy reads those records for your recent orders and recognises the AI assistants among them:
- ChatGPT
- Perplexity
- Gemini
- Copilot
- Claude
You see how many orders came from each one, and the sales, in each currency you sell in, over the last 7, 30 or 90 days.
It works with Salla, Zid, WooCommerce and Shopify, read from your own store when you open the page. Nothing is installed on your site, and no customer data is copied.
An honest lower bound
The number Allowfy shows is the least it could be, not a guess. Assistants don't always pass on where a visit came from, and a shopper who reads ChatGPT's answer and types your address by hand looks like a direct visit. So the real number is often higher. The report also says how many orders had no source recorded at all.
Three things to do with the number
- Check that assistants can read your products. The free Allowfy Check opens your product pages the way an assistant does, and tells you whether it could read the price, stock, shipping and returns.
- Fix what's missing. Allowfy gives you the text to paste for your platform: your shipping and return policy as data, robots.txt rules, and an llms.txt drafted from your store.
- Watch it month by month. Allowfy re-checks your store and emails you when something gets worse.
